After completing her ministry as a classroom teacher, she became a member of the Foster Grandmother Program and tutored in the Learning Resource Center at St. Marys Springs Academy for 17 years, until she became a resident of Nazareth Court and Center. She received her diploma from St. Agnes High School in 1933. After retirement from full-time ministry, Sister Collean continued to be a vital presence at St. Marys Springs, Holy Family Parish, and in the Fond du Lac community. She is survived by her brothers John Karlin, Tom (Laura) Karlin, and her sister Betty Pfeifer; her sisters-in-law Nadine (+Frederick) Karlin, Arlene (+Leroy) Karlin, Sharon (+Lawrence) Karlin, and the Sisters of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed, and ministered. Upon her return to the United States, Sister Lillian volunteered at two womens shelters, Hope House in Wilmington Delaware and Bethlehem Haven in Pittsburgh. Little and Mary Olive Biersack Little. Joan entered St. Agnes Convent in 1951 and made her profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes as Sister Peter Damian on August 15, 1953. The family later moved to Marytown where Kathleen, her two sisters, and a brother attended St. Mary Grade School. Sister Loretta joined the community of sisters at Nazareth Court and Center in June 2001. Visitation for Sister Mary Jane will be held at Nazareth Court and Center, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on Monday, October 15, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and the Sisters of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed and ministered. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, at a later date. In 1987, she returned to the classroom, teaching for five years at St. Pius X School in Mobile. In appreciation for her legacy of leadership and commitment to Marian University and St. Marys Springs Academy, an admission award for SMSA graduates enrolling in Marian was named the Sister Judith Schmidt Award.
